Mother of Yellow Wolf

                                                                                                                       

Mother of Yellow Wolf was a legendary Wallowa Nez Perce centenarian

(also know as Swan Woman) who was first cousin to Chief Joseph. 

Her son, Yellow Wolf,  fought with distinction and bravery in the Nez Perce

war of 1877 and participated in the tribes relocation to the Pacific Northwest.

  14” Seated height;  Variegated soft grey human hair

   Her fragrant smokey brain tanned hide war honor style

   dress is embellished with beaded accents, elements of

   horsehair, various teeth, and oxidized silver cone beads.

   Mother  wears Native-made beaded moccasins,

   a sterling silver bracelet, and a beaded necklace.
